Most items may be renewed twice, unless:
The item is on reserve or in heavy demand
The item is an express or seasonal item
You owe more than $10 (adults) or $5 (children)
You have more than 5 items overdue
- You have reached the maximum amount of renewals
You can renew items three ways:
- By phone: call Telecirc at 604-527-4686 and follow the prompts
- In person, even if the item is not with you
- Online: select My NWPL from the library catalogue
Holds are free and may be placed on most items. Reference books, Bestseller Express books and Express View Dvds cannot be held. Magazines must be reserved by a librarian (at any desk or by phone).
You may have 30 reserves on your card at one time.
The Library will notify you by phone or e-mail when the reserved item(s) are ready for pick up and will hold the item(s) for you for 7 days. To get your library notification by email, register your email address at the checkout desk or fill in this online form.
Holds not picked up are charged $1.00 per hold. This fee applies to all borrowers, including children and seniors, and for all types of materials.
Fines and Charges - Overdues
Fines are charged on items late for each day the library is open.
All material from the Adult Department: 30 cents per day per item, to a maximum of $5.00 per item.
All Children's materials: 5 cents per day per item, to a maximum of $1.00 per item.
Bestseller Express items are charged $1 per day to a maximum of $5.00 per item.
Express View DVDs are charged $1 per day to a maximum of $5.00 per item.
Kobo eReaders: $1.00 fine per day for overdues. All contents of the eReader kit must be returned together. Replacement costs will apply for any missing items.
The eReaders must be returned to a staff member, and there is a $215.00 replacement cost for a lost or damaged Kobo eReader.
Seniors do not pay overdue fines except for Bestseller Express items and Express View Dvds. Seniors are charged $1.00 for every hold not picked up.
Lost items: The replacement cost of the item and a handling charge of either $5 for adult material or $3 for children’s material.
Lost or damaged cards: $2 for adults & $1 for children
Damaged barcodes: $1
