Freading eBooks

eBooks on Freading are always available!

Download the free app for IOS or Android and then browse and borrow books using your NWPL library card and PIN. Download books directly to your computer or device!

Note: All mobile device users will need an Adobe ID in order to activate the Freading app. If you do not have an Adobe ID, please create one by visiting the Adobe website.

Important Info:

  • Freading can be used by any New Westminster resident with a valid NWPL card.
  • Borrow up to 3 books at a time, and each book can be borrowed for up to 14 days.
  • Books are automatically returned at the end of the borrowing period.
  • Once the borrowing period has expired, simply download the book again to renew for 2 more weeks.
  • The Freading collection is always available, so no holds are necessary!

  • Borrow up to 5 books at a time, and each book can be borrowed for up to 21 days
  • Books are automatically returned at the end of the borrowing period, although you can also return books early
  • If there are no holds on a book, you can renew within 3 days of the book’s due date

To access RBdigital Audiobooks, you will need to create a one-time-only RBdigital account:

  • Use the RBdigital link found on the NWPL website
  • If you already have an account used for emagazines (formerly Zinio) or IndieFlix, please use the same credentials to log on

To listen to Audiobooks, there are 2 options:

  1. Stream through a web browser (requires a Wi-Fi connection and a device that can access the Internet)
  2. Download audiobooks using the mobile RBdigital app for Android or iOS or the desktop app for Windows or iOS

IndieFlix

Unlimited access to award-winning feature films, documentaries and shorts. Thousands of films to choose from across more than 50 countries!

To access IndieFlix:

  • Go to IndieFlix
  • Login or create an account using email, password and library card. If you already have an account with another RBdigital service, use the same username and password.
  • Browse movies, TV, short films, documentaries and web series. Or search for specific titles using the magnifying glass icon at the top.
  • Borrow and play. Select a title by clicking on the picture of the movie and click on the Play button. Note: you must be connected to the Internet to stream content.
  • Save items to view later by clicking the “+” or “+ MYLIST” button. Access your “MYLIST” by clicking on your username at the top right corner to view all your saved items.

PressReader Newspapers and Magazines

Read newspapers and magazines on your computer or download them to your smartphone or tablet for offline access using the PressReader app – click here.

Setting up a PressReader Account is completely optional and lets you personalize your experience. Bookmark articles, set up email alerts, and newspapers / magazines for offline use through the app.

Account Set Up Instructions

  • Log in to PressReader from our website using your library card
  • Close the PressReader HotSpot pop upClick on “Sign In” in the upper right-hand corner
    Click on “New User? Sign up now”
  • Enter your email address, password and name.
  • Please read the terms of use and privacy policy before continuing and then click Done.

Download for Offline Use

  • Follow the “Account Set Up” instructions above.
  • Download the PressReader app for your device
  • Open the app, sign in using the PressReader account you created and then click Authorize
  • Choose your newspaper / magazine and click on Download / Open

RBdigital Newspapers and Magazines (formerly Zinio)

Read your favourite magazines and newspapers on your computer or download them to your smartphone or tablet. The latest and back issues are always available, with no waiting lists or borrowing limits!

To access RBdigital:

  • Go to NWPL’s eMagazine page
  • Login or create an account (first-time users will need a valid NWPL card and email
    address to register for an RBdigital account).

Browse and check out titles

  • Browse the collection or search by subject or title.
  • Click on a magazine cover to select it. On the next screen, choose the issue you want and click on the Checkout button.
  • Check the box “Email me when the next issue is available” to receive notifications.

View titles on a computer or any device via web browser:

  • When you click Start Reading, your magazine will open in a new browser tab or window.

View titles on a tablet or smartphone:

  • Download the RBdigital app for iOS or Android.
  • Use the app to sign in or to create an account.
  • Tap the menu button (top left corner) and tap Magazines to access the collection.
  • Looking for back issues? Tap the magazine cover to go to the magazine page, and tap
    View All Issues.
  • Looking for magazines you previously checked out? Tap the menu button and tap
    Checked Out.
