Welcome to the 2020 Summer Reading Club

Starting June 16, children aged 3-12 are encouraged to join the Summer Reading Club, a FREE and fun program for kids. This year’s theme is “Explore Our Universe”!

Got a teenager in the house? Click here for info on our Teen Summer Reading Club!

Summer Reading Club encourages kids to read for fun every day, in whatever language or format is right for them (including being read to by someone else). And they can earn a medal for completing the program!

There are 2 ways to participate. Choose the one that’s right for your family – or do both!

  • Go to and sign up (a parent or guardian will need to provide their email address and permission to participate).
  • Need help signing up? Click here for instructions, or email for assistance.
  • Keep track of your daily reading (we recommend 15 minutes a day) and earn digital badges as you complete your reading goals.
  • Have questions or having trouble with the online SRC? Read the Frequently Asked Questions and email if you can’t find an answer to your question.

  • Pick up a Summer Reading Club package at NWPL’s Main Branch (716 6th Avenue) between 12-4pm, Tuesday through Saturday. The package includes a Reading Log, stickers, and a bookmark!
  • You do not need an appointment, but please remember to practice good physical distancing when you visit the library, use the lineup, and consider coming back later if it is very busy.
  • Keep track of your daily reading (we recommend 15 minutes a day) by filling in the circles in the Reading Log for every day you read.

No matter how you participate, after doing 7 weeks (49 days) of reading, you will earn the Summer Reading Club medal! Check this page later in the summer to find out how to pick up your medal.

Make sure you also visit the Summer Reading Club website at over the summer to hear author readings, download printable activities, and get ideas for things to do at home for kids of all ages.
