Community Dialogues: Isolation

“According to the World Health Organization (WHO) anyone, anywhere, can be lonely or socially isolated. Across all ages and regions, loneliness and social isolation have serious impacts on our physical and mental health, and the well-being of our communities and society. The research has indicated the effects of social isolation on mortality is comparable to that of other risk factors such as smoking, obesity, and physical inactivity.”

Join us with facilitator Angela Sealy as we explore the nature of the current “Isolation” crisis. No previous experience or knowledge is necessary for participation in this series of community dialogues.

Angela Sealy, M.Ed; participant in SFU Centre for Dialogue, is a Community Engagement Specialist and has been a private consultant for 20 years. She believes in creating a structure of belonging using the power of the people where they live. This structure has the ability to transform isolation and loneliness.
