Teen Art Contest

That’s a wrap for our 2026 Teen Art Contest!

We received a record 39 entries this year, which were evaluated by five staff from the Children’s & Teen Department and the Queensborough Branch.

We considered each entry’s presentation, technique, and creativity when it came to this year’s theme, “Under the Sea”. With so many amazing entries, it was very close!

We are happy to announce that our winners this year are:

Grand Prize: Elly Chen

Runners-up: Angelia Evalle and Alice Ramseyer

Since we received so many great submissions, we are also now working on plans to exhibit the top 10-15 artworks in the library during the summer! Stay tuned for more details about this exciting exhibition.

WHEN THE CONTEST IS NOT RUNNING/SRC IS OVER:

Our Teen Art Contest runs from mid-February to April every year. Youth in grades 6 to 12 are invited to submit their artwork for a chance to win prizes and to be featured on our Teen Summer Reading Club materials.

WHEN THE CONTEST IS RUNNING:

Do you want to see your artwork all over town this summer? Here’s your chance!

We’re calling on all local teen artists to submit their creations for this year’s Teen Art Contest.

If you win, your work will be featured on our 202X Summer Reading Club poster, bookmark, and online promotional materials! You will also receive a gift certificate to arts and crafts store Michaels!

To enter, you will need to download and complete the submission form, which you can return to us along with your submitted artwork.

The deadline to enter is April Xth, 202X.

WHEN THE CONTEST IS OVER AND WINNER ANNOUNCED:

Congratulations to our 2025 Teen Art Contest winner and runners-up!

We received some outstanding submissions this year and it was so hard to choose our favourites.

In the end, our judging panel chose a winning artwork that perfectly captures this year’s theme, Colour Your Summer. We’re delighted to announce Manuthi of Fraser River Middle School as this year’s Teen Art Contest winner!

Our two runners-up also submitted “colourful” pieces of their own — congratulations to Jewel Soberano (New Westminster Secondary School) and Jancis Anne Castillo Nartia (Fraser River Middle School)!

We’re thrilled these artworks will adorn our Teen Summer Reading Club materials this year so please keep an eye out for our launch in June!
