Meeting Rooms

The Main Branch of the Library has four meeting rooms available for the public to use. Please check the information provided below for details about the rooms.

When not being used by the library, these rooms are available to New Westminster not-for-profit organizations for meetings and public programs of an informational, educational, cultural or philanthropic nature. Some rooms are also available as study rooms.

All inquiries about booking one of our rooms must be done through email. Please send your inquiries to . Be sure to include:

  • Your contact information and your group’s name
  • The type of meeting you’re going to be holding
  • The number of people you expect to attend
  • Which room you’re interested in using
  • At least 3 days and times that will work for you

Please note that most available times are in the evening and on the weekend, and that Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the most popular days.

All room users must ensure that the rooms are put back to their original condition after use, including furniture and technology returned to the standard set-up, and all garbage and recycling put into the proper receptacles.

There is additional study space available at the Queensborough branch. This is available on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be reserved.

  • The Auditorium is located in the lower level of the library, and can seat a maximum of 75 people theatre-style or up to 40 people classroom-style. All groups using the Auditorium are responsible for setting up their own tables and chairs, and stacking them again when they are finished.

    Depending on availability, organizations can have one booking per month, either in the Auditorium or the Plaskett Room.

    Bookings can be made ahead, and any monthly bookings will be valid until December 2019. Information about bookings in 2020 will be available by November 2019.

    Groups using the Auditorium are able to bring food and catering as long as they ensure everything is cleaned up before they leave.

  • The Plaskett Room is located on the upper floor of the library, and can seat a maximum of 20 people; 12 around the Board table, and another 8 people around the perimeter.

    Depending on availability, organizations can have one booking per month, either in the Auditorium or the Plaskett Room.

    Bookings can be made ahead, and any monthly bookings will be valid until December 2019. Information about bookings in 2020 will be available by November 2019.

    Groups using the Plaskett Room are able to bring light snacks into the room.

  • This new room is on the second floor of the library, and can seat 12 people around a Board table.

    No long-term bookings of this room are available. Bookings can be made up to one week in advance. Groups may book the room a maximum of twice in a calendar month, depending on availability.

    When it is not being used for library programs, the Ash Street Room will be a Silent Study space, Monday – Friday, 3 pm – 6 pm.

    No food is allowed in the Ash Street Room. Drinks with lids are acceptable.

     


  • The Gallery Room is located on the second floor and seats a maximum of 8 people. It is available for groups of 2 or more persons to study or work together for a maximum of 2 hours per day. Sign-up must be done in-person at the Second Floor Service Desk on the day of use.

    Monday – Friday the Gallery Room is a drop-in space for group study from 3pm – 6pm. No reservations will be accepted during this time.

    No food is allowed in the Gallery Room. Drinks with lids are acceptable.
